Changing Beliefs That Block Recovery

Course Description:

In this course, alcoholism and substance abuse counselors will learn new ways to help clients identify and change core beliefs that block the recovery process and predispose them to chronic relapse. The underlying assumption is that people can change their beliefs, and that the process of changing beliefs can be facilitated and accelerated through the application of the specific concepts and skills utilized in this course.

This course will also include:
(1) Methods for identifying beliefs that impede or block the recovery process.
(2) Methods to help clients replace limiting beliefs with new, empowering beliefs that will support their recovery.
(3) A method to help clients increase motivation to change beliefs that block recovery.

How to Complete the Course:

Finish at your own pace!
(1) Read the manual and complete the open-book exam.
(2) Document application of the skills learned in the course with 10 clients.*
(3) Send completed materials to Transformations Enterprises.
(4) Transformations Enterprises reviews your materials immediately upon receipt, and sends your certificate by return mail, usually the next day.

* If you are not currently working with clients, you may document application of the skills with friends or colleagues.
