Introduction to Pathways to Sobriety

Course Description:

In this new 40-hour course from Transformations Enterprises, alcoholism and substance abuse counselors will learn how to use the Pathways to Sobriety Workbook to help clients recover from addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs. The workbook is a comprehensive set of practical recovery tools and uses a cognitive/behavioral approach to the problem of addiction..

At the end of the course, counselors will be able to help clients:

(1) Complete an honest self-assessment.
(2) Identify addiction as a problem and discover how they learned their addiction pattern.
(3) Recognize how they have used alcohol and/or other drugs to change feelings.
(4) Find new clean and sober ways to experience good feelings.
(5) Learn how to design a personal relapse prevention strategy that will work for them.
(6) Set meaningful goals that will lead to a contented clean and sober future.
(7) Begin to reorganize their values to support a sober lifestyle.
(8) Identify and change negative attitudes and beliefs that would keep them stuck in the relapse process.
(9) Avoid relapsing back into active chemical use after treatment.
(10) Develop a personal mission statement as an anchor for a chemical-free life.

(1) Read the workbook and finish the exercises.
(2) Return the workbook to Transformations Enterprises
(3) Transformations Enterprises reviews your materials and sends your workbook and your certificate by return mail.
