Course Description:
Sponsored by Transformations Enterprises, this new 40-hour course
helps counselors learn skills specifically designed to help teenage clients
overcome excessive anger, the number one trigger for relapse among teens recovering
from chemical dependency. Upon completion of the course, counselors will be
able to help teens learn how they can stop the violence once and for all.
The Content of the Course: This course provides chemical dependency
counselors with new skills, and will empower them to show teen clients how
to:
- Complete an honest self-assessment of their anger problem.
- Identify anger as a problem and discover how they learned their anger
pattern.
- Recognize how they have used anger like a drug, in order to feel powerful.
- Find new non-violent ways to experience personal power.
- Learn to change abusive and violent behaviors.
- Set and achieve meaningful goals.
- Begin to reorganize their values to support a non-violent lifestyle.
- Identify and change negative attitudes and beliefs about themselves
and others.
- Avoid relapsing back into violent behavior, and back into active chemical
use following treatment.
- Develop a personal mission statement as an anchor for a non-violent
chemical-free lifestyle.
