WDC DONATES TO PATTERSON LIBRARY

Westfield Development Corporation’s Education Committee has been created to provide business educational resources to the community. A recently completed project involved a $1,000 gift to the library to purchase up-to-date books, videos, periodicals and compact discs for the yet to be named community business resource center.  Debbie Williams acted as advisor to the committee.  She is in the process of ordering the new materials and also hopes to add two additional Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation computers.  The aim of both the library and WDC is to make business information accessible at the local level.  A reception and business seminar are planned to inaugurate the new business center.  Other projects in the works for the WDC Education Committee are:

q       q       Volunteering in Junior Achievement business education programs in the second and eighth grades at Westfield Academy and central School.

q       q       Offering IKON business software training classes at Welch’s to the public on a limited basis.

q       q       Working with the Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce to bring more business seminars to Westfield.

q       q       Creating a database of conference rooms at local businesses that are suitable for business training sessions and meetings.

WDC’s goal is to put Westfield on the cutting edge of environmentally friendly business development in the county and beyond.
